Spanish and French Spelling Bee

On Monday 10th January, two students from each Year 7 form took part in either a French or Spanish spelling bee.

In form language lessons, there would be a mini competition in which anyone could have a go at spelling as many words as possible in Spanish or French, using the language’s alphabet! At first, there were only 50 words to learn, but the two best from each class would be given a further 50 words to learn for the Spelling Bee between the other forms.
When the spelling bee began, every participant had 1 minute to spell as many words as they could. Miss Harrop, Miss Brignolle and Miss Dorkins would say a word, while the other participants would count and time.

The 4 winners will go on to a competition between the other schools in Barnet, and the winners from that will go on against London. In total, there are potentially 200 new words to learn and learn how to spell!

The Barnet competition will take place in February. Good luck to all the contestants from the Compton!
