Guided Pathways....

The year 9 guided pathways took place over a period of a few weeks, based on assemblies, presentations, dummy runs and 2 meetings. The presentations in assemblies were basically just to help you set up on the right path and letting you know about the qualifications you can receive (the new one being the English Baccalaureate) and what you need to get them. Then comes a few presentations in Citizenship time to help you decide on some subjects, whether they’re for you or not. Then the dummy run, which is basically a test run of your choices, this is not your final decision and can be changed in the actual choices.

The first meeting was on Wednesday 2nd March 2011, this was so parents know about choices in GCSE and a bit more about it, you can go along too, however you don’t have to, but your parents do.

The meeting on Wednesday 9th March 2011 was the important one. Everyone got an appointment with a member of the year 9 staff or a senior member at a certain time, the earliest time was at 5pm. All the interviews took place in the main hall. For this, you have to go and your parent. What happened inside all depends on the student, really. Basically, you go over your GCSE choices and pick 2 reserves, once you have done that, you can ask any questions to your interviewer and then you leave! Easy as! Good Luck to those next year!
