At 7.00pm the show began. Fearne Cotton presented the judges Jamie Cullum, Sharleen Spiteri and Dizzee Rascal as they got ready to judge the acts. The finalists – Pop band Missing Andy, Pop Rock band The Pictures, duo Pepper and Piano, guitarist Emma’s Imagination and composer Daithi – all came out and performed original songs. 11 year old harpist Hero came out and performed Angel by Sarah Mclachlan and didn’t even seem phased by the screaming crowd.
Missing Andy, The Pictures and Emma’s Imagination all made it to the final three. When asked about their performance Missing Andy lead singer said “it was amazing having such a massive crowd singing along to the lyrics with you”. Judge Jamie Cullum came onstage and performed his song Mixtape, Sharleen sang Inner Smile and Dizzee had the entire audience up on there feet singing his number 1 hit Bonkers.
Finally it was time to crown the winner, the remaining acts gathered on stage around Fearne. “And the winner of Must Be The Music 2010 is…” the wait was agonising, the entire arena was silent, sitting on the edge of their seats “…Emma’s Imagination!”
The arena roared and cheered as Emma began to sing her song This Day but she was so overwhelmed with emotion she couldn’t continue. Luckily judge Dizzee Rascal was their to save the day he told Emma “all of these people are here to see you” as he pointed to the crowd “they have voted for you and want to hear you sing!”
As she began her song Emma thanked the audience for their support. An amazing night, an amazing winner, I think we will be hearing a lot more from Emma’s Imagination.
