Compton's New Teacher

At the beginning of every year, there are always inevitably new teachers to replace those who left last year. This is also the case this year, with many new teachers to take the place of those who left. However, being only a few weeks into the year, these new teachers are still a slight mystery to us, which is we have discovered some small, interesting facts about them.

First of all we have Miss Davis from the Science Department. We all know she has cool hair, but did anyone know that she wanted to be a doctor when she was younger? Also, she didn’t always favour science, instead preferring maths. Her inspiration for becoming a teacher was because of a great biology teacher from collage.

Another new science teacher is Miss Groves, who wanted to become a vet. But, unlike Miss Davis, science was one of her favourite subjects, as was geography. Her reason for becoming a teacher was because she once taught abroad and decided she wanted to pursue it as a career.

Moving onto D&T, we interviewed Miss Beek. Miss Beek had dreams of an acting career, but her favourite subject was always D&T. “I came into teaching because I got to help people” says Miss Beek, who works in textiles.

The English department also hosts an array of new teachers, one of whom is Miss Campbell. Miss Campbell, who has joined us from a school in Ireland, always wanted to be a teacher, but her favourite subject was once French. She wanted to become a teacher because of a great English teacher at school, just like Miss Thompson. Miss Thompson wanted to be either a ballet dancer or teacher and always liked English. Next, we have Miss Collins, who also always wanted to become a teacher. Her favourite subject was Maths and became a teacher because she enjoyed working with young adults.

Finally, In MFL, there are three new teachers; Miss Wandless, Miss Murugavale and Miss Cabeza-Redondo. Miss Wandless, similarly to Miss Groves, wanted to be a vet, whereas Miss Cabeza-Redondo wanted to be an astronaut! Miss Murugavale also wanted to be a teacher, which seems to be the most popular choice! She became a teacher for the same reason as Miss Collins; she enjoys working with young adults. All three enjoyed Spanish and French and wanted to help others to learn and enjoy it like them.

So, there you have it. Some quirky facts about the new teachers of Compton. We wish them very good luck here and hope they stay for a long time!
