The Shakespeare. Doesn’t sound like the height of entertainment nowadays does it? But if you throw in a new setting, new time zone and music to The Tempest, it gets a lot more exciting. This is what the Drama department is doing; The Tempest in 1980’s Isle of Dogs with 80’s music but the original language.
“It’s a big risk,” says Miss Anthony “and we don’t think we’ve had enough rehearsals so far for it to be professional, but we are thrilled with our very talented cast and we’re sure that they’ll pull it off!”
Compton is not the only school involved; Schools such as Alexandra Park and Friern Barnet also joined in the fun!

The large cast, made up of Drama enthusiasts and people looking for a fun challenge are “very talented” with a good sense of humor; sounds fun. We interviewed a cast member, who tells us more.
She says, “I play a nymph, but because of the change in time, we now play chavs!” We asked her about the whole experience and she exclaims, “It’s really fun, but challenging and we have to do the same thing over and over again sometimes.” Sounds like hard work, but so much fun too! We leave our cast member rehearsing – She’s performing in November, not long to go now!
So, if you want to see this amazing performance for yourself, go to Miss Collins in English and ask for a letter! The performance is on the 1st of November 2011 and will last half an hour with the other three schools using up the other two hours between them. It’s at the Arts Depot on the 1st of November and starts at 7:00 pm but it is advised that you get there at 6:30 as many people want to go. The tickets at the door are £8, but cheaper if you buy through school.
